What does the C2, G2, V1 assessment mean?
Inspections happen every three to four years to check how well housing providers are run, how financially secure they are, and whether they’re delivering safe, effective services to customers.
We submitted a large number of documents to the Regulator of Social Housing to explain how the Board and Tenant Scrutiny Group oversee how we deliver services to customers, manage Unity’s finances and make decisions about how Unity is run.
To arrive at their assessment, the Regulator:
-
Spent a number of hours talking with our Senior Management team and board members.
-
They observed a Tenant Scrutiny meeting and a Board meeting.
-
They looked at our website and read the documents we sent to them.
Unity’s Chief Executive Cedric Boston has written about the inspection in the Summer Newsletter. Unity was disappointed to receive a Governance regrade from G1 the highest rating to G2 the second rating as part of this process.
This means there are areas where we can do better in providing services to our tenants, and in reporting performance to our tenants about how we are performing. We have agreed a Landlord Improvement Plan with the Regulator and the Board. We have called this GSIP – Governance Service Improvement Plan.

You can also see the GSIP. We will be reporting regularly on this so that you can see the improvements being made to our service delivery to you, Unity’s tenants. This will be in conjunction with the Tenants Scrutiny Group who will be reviewing key documents such as Policies and Performance.
