Scott Hall Square - Local Homes for Local People

4 Jul 2011 - Find out more about the scheme we are building in Leeds 7.

Great news! New homes are to be built in the area at Scott Hall Square.

Unity Housing Association, in partnership with Leeds City Council and the Homes and Communities Agency, has secured funding to develop 24 houses for rent and sale.

The development, worth £2.4 million, will be the first new houses in the area since Unity's successful Scott Hall Green homes were built about 10 years ago. On the Scott Hall site, there will be eight bungalows and sixteen 2,3 & 4 bed houses. 13 houses will be for rent and 11 will be for low-cost sale. The scheme will also include a significant amount of Public Open Space. The homes will be built to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4. This means that the properties are over 40% more energy efficient than a similar house built to the minimum standard required by building regulations. This will lead to massive savings on fuel bills for our tenants.

Frank Haslam Milan (FHM), who will be building the houses, are well known builders. They're based in Doncaster, but have worked in Leeds, for housing associations and the council, for many years. Work will start this July and be complete by July 2012. As part of the building contract there is a local labour clause, to make sure that there are a number of jobs specifically for local people. We will send out more information about this soon. Unity would like to thank everyone who took the time to help us to develop the new scheme. We look forward to your continued support.
