Green with the Team

23 Oct 2008 - Unity teamed up with Leeds Rhinos and six other Leeds Housing Associations on August 17th 2008 at the "Green with the Team" event in Leeds.

Unity teamed up with Leeds Rhinos and six other Leeds housing associations on 17th August 2008 at the ‘Green with the Team' event in North Leeds.

The group of housing associations, collectively called G7 includes Unity, Leeds Federated, Leeds and Yorkshire Housing Association, Leeds Jewish Housing Association, Connect and Headrow Housing Association. The seven are working together to give information to tenants and improve the way green issues are tackled by housing associations in Leeds.

The event's main sponsor was Unity's repairs contractor H T Forrest, who provided the main raffle prize of Halfords vouchers to buy a new bike. Leeds Rhinos Rugby team led a question and answer session about healthy lifestyles and put everyone through their paces with their own fitness challenge coaching sessions. Unity's gas contractor, P H Jones, also attended and gave demonstrations on how to reduce fuel bills. Other activities included face-painting, potting plants and Groundwork's climate change workshop.

Lots of useful advice was provided for tenants on how to save money and reduce their carbon footprints. Hundreds of free energy-saving light bulbs and plugs were given away on the day.
