Cleaning Services by Unity Enterprise

Written by Parveen Sidhu

22 Nov 2007 - After a mixed experience with outside cleaning companies, Unity Enterprise has decided to recruit its own cleaners.

After a fairly mixed experience with outside cleaning companies, Unity Enterprise decided to recruit its own cleaners for the Unity Business Centre in 2006. Two cleaners now look after the both the Centre's buildings providing a morning and an afternoon shift five days a week. Not only are the buildings cleaned at a more competitive rate than previously but also management on site can now respond more quickly and flexibly to cleaning issues raised by tenants.

Following the success of this approach Unity Enterprise will shortly be employing its own cleaner for the Chapeltown Enterprise Centre and has just taken up a contract to clean the Leeds Media Centre (HOST).

As a not-for-profit, social enterprise company Unity Enterprise is keen to offer its very affordable cleaning service to other voluntary and social organisations in the Chapeltown and Harehills area. Where possible the company will endeavour to recruit staff from the local area. Any profits Unity Enterprise makes out of this and its other activities are used to reinvest in the company so that it can continue to offer affordable workspace and business support to local people wishing to start a new businesses or social enterprise
