81 Markham Avenue sees Unity Housing Association's first Solar Panel.

The recent refurbishment of the property saw the inclusion of a solar panel as part of the work, to turn the house from 3 small 1 bed flats back into a 4 bedroom family home.

Renewable energy sources are at the forefront of building design at the moment, and as part of our commitment to reducing fuel costs to our tenants, Unity is pleased to announce that it has installed its first solar panel to help support the heating of hot water.

The technical bit - The system works by taking heat from the sun and converting it into hot water. This is then circulated through the hot water cylinder and pre-heats the hot water tank. This reduces the time required to bring the tank to a full state of readiness. This means that less gas or electricity is then required to heat the hot water tank.

Unity will continue to investigate other innovative ideas for future investment. Watch this space!

Happy family outside their home. If you are a tenant and have ideas to improve our website, we would love to hear from you.
